October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and National Bullying Awareness Month.
To make positive change in the world ,we need to start with ourselves and look at how we treat ourselves and others. The first step we can all take to tackle this worldwide epidemic is to first be educated about the subject.
It is sad to think all of us either have been personally affected or know someone who has suffered from domestic violence and/ or bullying these days and it is still not that much of a topic that is openly talked about. In recent years, sexual harassment and abuse awareness has been more openly talked about than ever before, which is good. But still, topics like these are very difficult to discuss…
Something that took me a long time to talk about and get help with was that I was a victim of domestic violence myself and witnessed it all of the time growing up in my family’s home. It affected me greatly when I became an adult. I felt so much guilt, shame and lack of self-confidence that I did not know where it came from and why I was feeling that way.
Finally after 25 years of staying silent, I spoke out and received help a few years ago. Now, after taking care of myself, I feel empowered, dealt with my past, let go of being a victim, and focus on the future and what I want my life! I am able to be in and maintain a happy and healthy relationship with a wonderful man who treats me like a queen, and I am able to share love on a more deeper level and support others on their journeys towards self-empowerment more effectively!

To make positive change in the world ,we need to start with ourselves and look at how we treat ourselves and others. I saw it all of the time in the years I worked in a mental health hospital after college that so many women, men too, treat themselves so poorly because someone in their past once did. They continue to accept abuse in their lives and feel that is what they deserve and that it is ok to live this way…
I am here to proudly stand up and say “NO, IT IS NOT OK TO ACCEPT ANY KIND OF ABUSE IN YOUR LIFE!”
You or your loved ones deserve better. You each are beautiful beings that deserve the best! Our creator gave all of us the Earth and it’s abundance to share with each other and enjoy and I know this is something that is worth fighting for. I hope that you can share this message and instill it in your hearts!
The first step we can all take to tackle this worldwide epidemic is to first be educated about the subject.
